Sonics ride Melo to playoff berth
By Mbnt173

Seattle (AP) - "The Sonics finished up the season going 44-38 to earn them a spot in the playoffs as a #7 seed. Unfortunately, injury has plagued young superstar Dwight Howard and he will not be available for the playoffs. But one man who will be is team captain, superstar Carmelo Anthony. Anthony lead the team in PPG at 25.9 and is a force to be reckoned with at just 21 years of age.

Melo had this to say, "Dwight was a critical offensive and defensive force in the paint throughout the season and his D will be missed against Shawn Marion and the Suns in the 1st round. But this team wasnt built on one player, we were built as a team. It puts more stress on me and Tony P. to produce but we arent about to roll over and die."

The team was off to a rough start going 13-18 when GM Mbnt173 took over. But a secound half resurgance has put this young team into the playoffs and a bright future going forward. With four starters under the age of 24 in the starting 5, the young core looks to produce for many years to come.

GM Mbnt173 had this to say "I think we had a great season, this team will only get better as Dwight and Melo continue to improve into some of the best players in the game. Tony Parker also. David Harrison is another guy I put my faith in, with some increased offensive and rebounding training he could compliment Dwight well in the paint. And SG Stephen Jackson provides some veteran experience in the backcourt."

When asked how far this team could go he said "As far as Melo takes them."

They go on to face a very tough Suns team, and unfortunately without Dwight it appears to be a 1st round exit. But if history tells us anything, this season is only a tune-up for great things to come.
