Mid-Season Power Rankings
By MVP

1. Cleveland Cavaliers (34-10) -- The Cavs have won an unbelievable 77% of their games, putting them on pace to win 63 at season's end. LeBron James is scoring almost 29 points per night and shooting over 50% which is amazing for a guard. The Cavs also have one of the best big man combos in the league with the Big Z and Zach Randolph. Both are averaging a double double. The only thing that could stop the Cavs now is an injury to James.

2. Golden State Warriors (30-18) -- Although they just dealt their superstar in Gilbert Arenas look for the dynamic backcourt of Baron Davis and Ray Allen to terrorize the opposing defenses. The Warrios must play better defense if they wish to advance far into the playoffs, giving up 101 ppg is not going to cut it.

3. Washington Wizards (31-15) -- Were not really sure how this team is winning right now, the only big name to pull away from this team is Amare. However, this team lack of turnovers (only 12.4 per game) and proficient scoring (103 ppg and 46% FG) has placed them 2nd in the Eastern Conference standings.

4. Utah Jazz (33-16) -- Although this team sports the best record in the West they are 3-7 in their last 10 games, and some way wonder if their lineup (when healthy) is too big with Dirk Nowitzki playing SF. The Jazz need to aqcuire a better PG than unexperienced Nate Robinson to get all these big men involved.

5. Miami Heat (26-18) -- the Heat's record is not as good as it could be considering Shaq has missed almost half the season. With him back the Heat have been rolling. Offseason addition Atoine Walker is having a career year, when people thought he would take a reduced role in Miami, scoring almost 24 ppg. Dwade continues to grow in the league averaging almost 30 ppg. Although Shaq is on the decline his 18 and 12 is nothing to laugh at.

6. Los Angeles Lakers (27-21) -- The Lakers have done remarkably well without dynamic PG Steve Nash in the lineup out with a fractured skull since early in the season. Kobe Bryant has played out of his mind averaging 32 ppg, but Kmart will need to step up his play to give his team a legit chance.

7. Toronto Raptors (24-21) -- The Raptors record suffered when Tim Duncan went out with a broken nose for 2 weeks. One also has to question the trade of starting PG Mike James, but the explosive frontcourt of Tim Duncan and Chris Bosh has opposing head coaches losing sleep. And we all know big men are needed to go deep into the playoffs. The addition of Rip Hamilton and Raja Bell makes this team considerably better.

8. Philadelphia 76ers (25-15) -- The backcourt of Steve Francis and Allen Iverson has gone suprsingly well, but will it last? Andre Iguodala needs to step up his play offensively, socring only 13 ppg at 42% is not acceptable for someone with his talent. The Sixers need to add someone besides Samuel Dalembert to have a legit chance.

9. Phoniex Suns (25-18) -- The Suns aqcuisition of Gilbert Arenas is huge, but one has to wonder if they gave up a little too much for him. They still have hte Matrix, but he needs to step up his game, although averaging 20 and 10, shooting only 41% is terrible for him. Jason Richardson is a complete stud, and the backcourt of him and Arenas is going to be deadly. The Suns are in desperate need of a C, Marion can not do it all.

10. Houston Rockets (25-20) -- Were not really sure what occured with the Rockets, they looked like they would walk over the entire West, but they have slowed down considerably. The explosive combo of Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady has been unbelievable, scoring almost 60 PPG combined and shooting almost 50%. Fans in Toronto are wondering why couldn't they do it up there too. The Rockets need a big man though to advance deep.
